In the spring of 1937 some twenty students from Brooklyn College volunteered to fight in Spain. This unique exhibit, curated by Professor Alejandro Alonso (Modern Languages and Literature, Brooklyn College), in partnership with ALBA, will cover three aspects: political life on campus in the 30s; the impact of the Spanish Civil War and the debates and confrontations that took place there; and the presence of Spanish Exiles in the campus.
There will be two panel discussions in the Tanger Auditorium (Brooklyn College Library) on the day of the exhibit’s opening– the first at 2:15 (pm) and the second at 4:30 (pm)–, and then there will be a small inaugural reception at 6:00 (pm).
