Aró Kortright, Augustin (Contray); b. February 11, 1911, Barceloneta, Puerto Rico; Puerto Rican; father Juan del Carmen Aro, mother Saturnina Kortright; Domicile Spain; Arrived in Spain on December 26, 1925; Professional Boxer and Seaman; Spanish Socialist Party April 1937, CNT; Joined Militia, Liberty Column, August 5, 1936; Served with the Republican Popular Army, 27th Division, 124th BDE, 2nd BN, Co. 1; Served at Mallorca, Madrid, and Aragon; WIA August 23, 1936 Palma de Mallorca, hit in the head and left eye; After leaving Spain he was interred in the French concentration camps Argelès sur Mer and St. Cyprièn; Returned to the US on March 30, 1939, aboard the Manhattan and planned to return to Puerto Rico.
