Biography

Avilés Perez, Juan b. March 27, 1915, Yauco, Puerto Rico; Puerto Rican; father Juan Avilés; mother Gregoria Pérez Silvestrini; Domicile Rincón, Puerto Rico and Madrid, Spain; Medical Student in Madrid; Served with a University Militia and was present at the storming of La Montaña; Later with the 150th BDE; Crossed into France at the end of the war and was interred in the French concentration camp Argelès sur Mer; Returned to the US on March 8, 1939, aboard the Paris; He returned to Puerto Rico on April 17, 1939 aboard the Borinquen; Completed his medical career in Mexico.
