Biography

Mori, Benedetto. b. June 16, 1899, Fluminamaggiore, Province of Cagliari, Italy, To the US 1926 as a seaman on the Manuael Accume, he jumped ship in NYC; Italian American; Father Lorenzo Mori, mother Chiara (Freschi) Mori; Stoker, worked in Detroit, at Ford, then from 1927 to 1937 lived in New York; To Spain via France in 1937; Arrived in Spain in May; Served with the Garibaldi Brigade; Served at Huesca, Brunete, and the Ebro Offensive; Left Spain and crossed into France in February 1939 and was placed in the French camp Vernet; Transferred to Italy in January 1943 where he was sentenced to internal exile at Ventotene; After the fall of the Fascist government he served with the partisans in the Squadre di Azione Partigiane (SAP) an urban based partisan group, part of the brigades of Genoa.
