Geiser, Carl Frederick (Carl Dawson); b. December 10, 1910, Orville, Ohio; Jewish; POW; No prior military service; 1928 Salutatorian in Orville High School, Graduated from Fenn College in 1932; Married, Sylvia Geiser; Electrical Engineer and Student; CP September 1932 and YCL 1932; Received Passport# 380318 on March 29, 1937 which listed his address as 222 West 23rd Street, NYC (344 Knox Place, Bronx); Sailed April 1937 aboard the Georgic; Arrived in Spain on May 1, 1937; Trained at Tarazona in Battalion of Instruction; Served with the XV BDE, Washington BN, MG Co., Section 2, 3rd ammunition carrier on gun; Promoted to Company Commissar; Lincoln-Washington BN; Replaced Robbie Robinson as BN Commissar after Belchite; WIA Fuentes de Ebro (Fred Keller took over as BN Commissar); Became Head of the Commissar School at Tarazona; Went back the front during the Retreats and joined the Mackenzie-Papineau BN, Commissar took over from Saul Wellman during Retreats; Served at Brunete, Quinto, Belchite, Fuentes de Ebro, and was captured during the Retreats; Exchanged April 22, 1939; Returned to the US on May 6, 1939 aboard the President Harding; WWII Civilian as an engineer in War Industry, inventor and foreman at an aircraft instrument plant; d. November 28, 2009, Corvalis, Colorado; Spoke English, Germand and some Spanish.
