De Dente, Julian (DiDente, Pulifemo) b. April 1, 1909 Linioni (Liniti), Italy; Italian American; Father Fanfulla DiDentee, mother Julia DiDente; Received Passport# 369949 on March 17, 1937; Sailed April 28, 1937 aboard the President Harding; Served with the XV BDE, Mackenzie-Papineau BN; Served at Fuentes de Ebro; According to an oral history by Carl Cannon, De Dente was a tall man, nearly 6', he was active in the Mac-Paps at Fuentes and went out on night missions, cracked up and was removed from the lines with Karl Cannon, at the hospital tried to take a shot at some transmissions guys who were laying wire because he thought they were fascists, Cannon and Art Landis had to tackle him; After leaving Spain he was held in the French concentration camp St. Cyprien; Returned to the US on April 14, 1939 aboard the Washington; Deported to Italy during the McCarthy era; d.
