December 27, 1911 (1914), Cedar Rapids, Iowa (Rochester, Minnesota); Attended the University of Wisconsin; ROTC 1935-37; Single; Law Student; CP December 1935; Received Passport# 384737 on April 5, 1937 which listed his address as 215 4th Avenue NW, Rochester, Minnesota; Sailed April 21, 1937 aboard the Manhattan; Arrived in Spain on June 1, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Washington BN, Estado Mayor, Transmissions; Lincoln-Washington BN, Estado Mayor, acting Commander of HQ Cadres post Belchite; Served as Commissar, Liaison Officer, Company Commander, and last BN Adjutant; Rank Captain; Served at Brunete, Quinto, Belchite, Fuentes de Ebro, Retreats, and the Ebro Offensive; WIA Belchite and Fuentes de Ebro; Returned to the US on December 15, 1938 aboard the Paris; WWII US Army, Tech 5; d. February 14, 1973, San Francisco, California, buried in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon; Wife Mildred Raskin Thayer.
