Kouzis, George Aristides (Koujis; Kougis; Kaises; Koeges); b. April 5, 1894, Perias, Greece; To the US or England in 1913, Naturalized in New Orleans on April 3, 1923; Greek American; Father Aristides Kouges, mother Maria Kougis; 3 years Elementary School; No prior military service but indicated he was a prisoner of war of the Germans; Single; Seaman; CP 1934 (April 25, 1935), Greek Worker’s Education Club, Seamans Union; Received Passport# 364652 on February 1, 1937 which listed his address as 310 South 12th Street, and 311 Gasket Street, both Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (305 S. 11th Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania); Sailed February 6, 1937 aboard the Paris; Arrived in Spain on February 17, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Dimitrov BN and Lincoln BN; Later with the Albacete Auto Park; Served at Aragon, Teruel, and Ebro Offensive; Erroneously reported KIA March 10, 1938 Belchite; Returned to the US on December 20, 1938 aboard the Ausonia; d. February 12, 1963 in Athens, Greece, buried in Cemetery Aghioi Anargyri in Athens; Sailed at least until 1950.
