Klieger, Leister Gustave b. September 14, 1916, NYC; 2 years high school; Single; Seaman; YCL May 1937; Received Passport# 424727 on May 25, 1937 which listed his address as 560 Fox Street, Bronx, New York (1880 E. 4th Street, Brooklyn, New York); Sailed May 29, 1937 aboard the Britannic; Arrived in Spain via Espolla on June 17, 1937; Served with the 35th Division Service Sanitaire; Noted in January as having left without permission for Albacete in order to obtain repatriation; Returned to Brigade but later deserted and found a ship in Barcelona boarding on March 3, 1938; Returned to the US on May 8, 1938 aboard the SS Pilcut, docking in Boston along with Karl Reed; WWII Seaman; d. August 10, 1987, Brooklyn, New York, buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Glendale, Queen County, New York .
