October 20, 1917, Fresno, California; Father John Gripper Tyler (1883-1969), mother Hazel Hamilton Tyler (Attended University of California, 1886-1966); Berkeley and Fresno State College; Received Passport# 25815, San Francisco series, on March 22, 1937 which listed his address as 1115 Thorne Street, Fresno, California; Sailed March 31, 1937 aboard the Aquitania; Arrived in Spain April 29, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Washington BN, shell shocked at Brunete; Deserted with James Doyle, Vachel Lindsay Blair, and Robert Bready; Returned to the US on September 9, 1937 aboard the Ile de France; WWII conscientious objector; d.
