October 13, 1895, Fredoria, Iowa; 4 years college, studied engineering, Council Bluffs, Iowa; WWI US Army, 27th Regiment, Machinegunner, served in Siberia in 1917; Later served in the Canadian Army; Single; Mechanic, Professional Soldier, and Agriculture Worker; CP August 1931 (1935), Dist. Comm. D#32; Received Passport# 367226 on February 15, 1937 which listed his address as 1167 7th Avenue, Council Bluff, Iowa; Sailed February 20, 1937 aboard the Ile de France; Arrived in Spain on March 3 (13), 1937; Served with the Gottwald Anti-Aircraft Battery, No. 4; XV Brigade, Lincoln-Washington Battalion, Co. 5 (MG Co.); Albacete Auto Park; 35th Division, Special MG Battalion, Co. 3; Served at Brunete, Belchite (with AA), Teruel (with Auto Park), and the Ebro Offenisve (Spec MG Battalion); Returned to the US on December 20, 1938 aboard the Ausonia.
