Jacobs, Hyman (Hy); b. November 12, 1912, Rochester, New York; Father Ruben Jacobs (1890-?), mother Rebecca Jacobs (1888-?); Grammar school education; Single; Mechanic and Locksmith; CP 1932 (1933); Received Passport# 411477 on May 13, 1937 which listed his address as 423 Blue Hills Avenue, Roxbury, Massachusetts; Sailed May 20, 1937; Arrived in Spain on June 2, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Mackenzie-Papineau BN; Served at Quinto, Belchite, Fuentes de Ebro, Teruel, Seguro de los Banos, and The Retreats; April 23, 1938 evacuated to hospital for illness; Medical commission deemed his condition serious enough to declare him unfit for further service; Returned to the US on October 25, 1938 aboard the Ile de France; Married Sylvia Moshinsky, children Bonnie Jacobs Lubeznik, Richard Jacobs, and Rochelle Jacobs Laff; d. February 18, 1986, Skokie, Cook County, Illinois, buried in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Skokie, Illinois.
