Jimenez, Manuel. (Jim; Jiménez Tejeda, Manuel Jesus); b. November 1, 1919, NYC; Spanish-Dominican American; father Manuel Jiménez Romance, mother Herminia Tejeda. Family moved to the Dominican Republic in 1932; Family moved to Barcelona, Spain in 1934; Single; In Spain at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War; Served on the Republican side likely in the XIV Corps with brother Mike, captured and imprisoned in a prison in Asturias at the end of the war; escaped and went into hiding in Barcelona; He and four brothers and a sister, orphaned in the aftermath of the war, were given safe passage to the US by the American Embassy in Barcelona in 1940; WW II US Army likely in Office of Strategic Services (OSS) again with brother Mike; Post-war lived and worked as a mechanic in New Jersey; d. September 15, 1990. Siblings: brothers Michael Angelo (Mike) Jimenez; Daniel Jimenez, Joe Jimenez, John Jimenez, Luis Jimenez, and sister Delores Jimenez Gleaton. Source: As told by Michael A.
