Stuivenberg, Johannes. (Stuyuenberg, John Miller); b. January 2, 1891, Veenendaal, Netherlands; Had been in the US 25 years; Seaman; SUP; Domicile San Francisco, California; Sailed June 23, 1937 aboard the Queen Mary; Arrived in Spain via Massanet on July 6, 1937; Served with the XV Brigade, 24th/59th (Spanish) Battalion, Co. 3; Later with 4th Grupo, 35th Battery; Rank Soldado; Served at Quinto, Belchite, Fuentes de Ebro, and Levante; WIA Fuentes de Ebro, hit in the head, hospitalized in Benicasim for two months; Returned to the US on April 16, 1939 aboard the Washington; Spoke English, Dutch, German, Norwegian, and a little Spanish.
