Miltenberger, John Alvar. b. January 14, 1912, Johnstown, Pennsylvania; Jewish; Attended Pennsylvania State College for 1.5 years; ROTC 1.5 years; Single; Steel Worker; YCL 1936; Received Passport# 427758 on May 28, 1937 which listed his address as 1684 Boyd Avenue, and 118 Market Street, both Johnstown, Pennsylvania (1084 Boyel Avenue, Johnstown, PA); Sailed June 2, 1937 aboard the Aquitania; Arrived in Spain via Setcases on June 19, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Mackenzie-Papineau BN; Returned to the US on March 3, 1939 aboard the Manhattan; d. August 29, 1978; Accused of desertion during the Retreats, he steadfastly maintained his innocence.
