Biography

January 2, 1914, Worcester, Massachusetts; Lithuanian American; Father Mikos Sakalauskas, mother Ursele Starkauskas; High School education; Single; Machinist; CP 1936; Received Passport# 4115 on March 9, 1937 which listed his address as 144 Water Street, Worcester, Massachusetts; Sailed March 17, 1937; Arrived in Spain on April 25, 1937; Served with the XV Brigade, Washington Battalion; WIA July 7, 1937; Returned to the US on July 20, 1938 aboard the Champlain; WWII US Army, enlisted September 30, 1942, Rank Tech Sergeant; Post-war he was the Editor and Publisher of Vilnis in Chicago, an English Language Lithuanian paper; d. May 27, 1948, buried in  Lithuanian National Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.
