January 8, 1910, Chicago, Illinois; Father Alfred Hamburger (1879-1946), mother Louise Hamburger (1881-?); Attended the University of Chicago for 3.5 years, and Commonwealth College 1932; Single; Steel Worker, Teacher, Librarian, Vocation Teacher, and Book Seller; CP May 1, 1933; Received Passport# 382179 on April 1, 1937 which listed his address as 5514 Blackstone Avenue, Chicago, Illinois; Sailed April 28, 1937 aboard the President Harding; Arrived in Spain via Espolla on June 26, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Mackenzie-Papineau BN; Returned to the US on November 2, 1938 aboard the Paris; Married Helen Adele Strauss (1911-?) on Janury 27, 1942 in Washington, DC; d. July 22, 1962.
Sibling: Alice Hamburger (1913-?).
