November 28, 1908, Panevezys, Lithuania, to the US in 1928, Naturalized citizen; Lithuanian American; Completed 4 years of HS in Lithuania and an additional 1.5 years in the US; No military experience; Single; Newspaperman, worked for Chicago Lithuanian Newspaper Vilnis; CP 1935 (CPC) and Spanish CP; Received Passport# 363226 on January 25, 1937 which listed his address as 10613 Edbrooke Avenue, Chicago, Illinois (3116 S. Halsted Street, Chicago, Illinois); Sailed February 6, 1937 aboard the Paris; Arrived in Spain on February 14, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln BN, Co. 2, Section 1, Group 2; Later Co. 1, arrived as a replacement on February 23 and was WIA February 27, 1937; In hospitals until February 1938; Transferred to IB Mail service served as a censor in Barcelona, from February-November 1938; Rank Soldado; Returned to the US on December 20, 1938 aboard the Ausonia; d.
