November 21, 1912, Harvey, Illinois; Ukrainian American; Father Stephen Zawadowski (1883-?); mother Katherine Kachuk (1892-?); 1 year High School followed by a trade school for Mechanics; Prior military service with the US Army, Illinois National Guard, Military police for six months during 1936; Single; Mechanic; CP 1934 (July 15, 1936) and YCL July 15, 1936, AFL; Received Passport# 365493 on February 4, 1937 which listed his address as 3329 South Morgan Street, Chicago, Illinois; Sailed February 17, 1937 aboard the President Roosevelt; Arrived in Spain on March 17, 1937 over the Pyrennes; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln-Washington BN at Quinto; Ursine No. 1; XV BDE, Auto Park, mechanic; Rank Cabo; Twice hospitalized Albacete June 1937 for 10 days due to illness and Benicasim in October 1937 for 40 days due to Typhoid ever; Returned to the US on December 15, 1938 aboard the Paris; WWII Aviation Mechanic; Children Joseph Zawadowsk, Jr., Stephen Zawadowski, and Mary Alice Zawadowski; d. April 10, 1984, Chicago, Illinois, buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois; Spoke English, Polish, Ukrainian.
