January 28, 1909, Kenosha, Wisconsin; Danish American; Father Carl Julius Nelson (1882-?), mother Mary Kvamme-Gagnuson (1885-?); Laborer; CP 1931; Received Passport# 495847 on January 31, 1938 which listed his address as 1919 West Boulevard, Racine, Wisconsin; Sailed February 9, 1938 aboard the Washington; Arrived in Spain via Agullana on February 23, 1938; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln-Washington BN; Rank Soldado; Reported MIA April 3, 1938, Gandesa, during the Retreats; Brother and sister inquired through the State Department to see if he was captured, no trace found.
Siblings: brother Magnus Nelson (1908-1986); sisters Eva L. Nelson (1906-1960), Dorthy Nelson (1912-1979), Alice Nelson (1915-?), Esther Goldies Nelson (1916-1992), Irene Nelson (1922-?), and Marian Louise Nelson (1925-2002).
