Mennella, Ciro b. October 28, 1900, Torre del Greco, Province of Naples, Italy, To the US circa 1922; Italian American; Father Saverio Mennella; In the US was in contact with working class and left wing organizations; To Spain at the end of 1936; Arrived in Spain on January 14, 1937; In 1938 attended Officer Training School in Pozo Rubio and completed the course in April; Served with the Garibaldi Brigade,1st BN, Co. 1; Rank Sargento later promoted to Teniente; Served at Cas de Campo, and Huesca; Wounded in action at Huesca; Left Spain on March 23, 1938; Returned to the US in June 1938.Sources: La Spagna Nel Nostro Cuore.
