Scudder, Roy Edwin. (Welch, Roy); b. July 23, 1908, Glenn Easton, West Virginia; Single; Seaman (NMU); CP October 1936 and YCL 1932, dropped out after 3 months; Domicile 500 West 23rd Street, NYC; Entered IB on June 18, 1937; Trained at Almansa; Served in the Artillery, 11th Regt., 2nd Group, 14th Battery (John Brown Battery), 155mm Guns; Transferred October 1937 to XV Brigade, Lincoln-Washington Battalion, Co. 4.; Rank Soldado; Served at Fuentes de Ebro, Teruel, Retreats, and the Ebro Offensive; Deserted during Retreats and deserted again in April 1938 along with Joseph Klerlein and was arrested by the control police at Figueras, as this was his second desertion attempt he was jailed in Castelldefels; Sent to 45th Division Fortifications in September 1938, was alive as of November 1938; Fate uncertain.
