Mendelowitz, Samuel. (Samuel “Curley” Mende, Kramer); b. December 25, 1908, Russia; Russian American; Jewish; Father Jacob Mendelowitz (1885-?), mother Ida Mendelowitz (1884-?); No prior military service; Married; Driver; CP 1930, IWO; Received Passport# 39274 (392714) on April 17, 1937 which listed his address as 530 Manhattan Avenue, NYC, and 637 Rockaway Parkway, Brooklyn, New York; Sailed May 8, 1937 aboard the American Importer; Arrived in Spain via Llansa on June 1, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Transport, later with the Albacete Auto Park; Returned to the US on October 25, 1938 aboard the Ile de France; WWII US Army, enlisted March 3, 1942.
Siblings: brothers Abe Mendelowitz (1904-?), Isidore Mendelowitz (19078-?), and Jae Mendelowitz (1912-?).
