April 15, 1898, Laredo, Texas; Father Jose Gonzalez, mother Adela Davila; No prior military service; High school education; Single; Office Worker; Kitchen Workers Union Local #89; Received Passport# 381267 on March 30, 1937 which listed his address as 100 East 101st Street, and 305 West 111th Street, both NYC; Sailed April 7, 1937 aboard the Lafayette; Arrived in Spain on April 27, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Washington BN, Co 2 or Co. 3, Section 1 later Company 2; Transferred in July 1937 to the 46th Division “Campesinos” 10th BDE Mixed, 40th BN; Rank Cabo; WIA July 7, 1937, in both arms, Quijorna; Served at Quijorna July 6, 1937, Teruel January 21, 1938, the Retreats, Lerida March 27, 1938, Segre, Balaguer May 1938, and the Ebro Offensive; Rank Cabo; Returned to the US on December 20, 1938 aboard the Ausonia.
