Stuart, Yale B. (Skolnick, Yale - real name); b. August 25, 1911, Russia, to the US at age 11; Russian American; Jewish; Father Nathan Stuart, mother Gloria Lipson; Primary school education; No prior military service; Married; Clerk; CP October 1933, Section Commission, United Retail Clerks of America AFL & CIO; Received Passport# 369849 on January 5, 1937 which gave his address as 109 West 112th Street, and 112 109th Street both NYC; Sailed January 9, 1937 aboard the Lafayette; Arrived in Spain on January 20, 1937; Served with the XV Brigade, Lincoln Battalion Co. 1; Assigned job of handling FALB shipments arriving in Port Bou for two months; Then to Murcia to organize intendencia; Instructor Training Base Tarazona October through November 1937; Albacete Auto Park from December through January; XV Brigade, Lincoln-Washington Battalion, Chief of Plana Mayor; Rank Sargento; Served at Jarama, Teruel, Aragon, and the Ebro Offensive; WIA March 10, 1938 and July 27, 1938; In hospital Labadelle 3 weeks, Barcelona Hospital #9 10 days, and Mataro No. 7 two and a half months; January 1938 memo noted liaison officer at front, worked in rear; In December 1937 was arrested by the Comandante of Auto Park for insubordination, jailed and sent to Villa Maruja, involved in a riot there and sentenced to an additional 30 days; Returned to the US on December 15, 1938 aboard the Paris, Married Beth Neumann (1915-1998) on February 5, 1943, in Wood, Ohio; d. June 12, 1978, Phoenix, Arizona, buried at Beth El Cemetery, Phoenix, Arizona.
